Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Shabbar Zaidi as the new chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). A chartered accountant by profession, Zaidi has vowed to bring administrative reforms in the tax machinery. The prime minister gave preference to Shabbar Zaidi over Ahmad Mujtaba Memon –a Grade 21 career bureaucrat of the Pakistan Customs. Memon was the nominee of the PM’s Adviser on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh. The Establishment Division did not issue a notification for the appointment of Zaidi till the filing of this news story. About six months back, the government had offered Zaidi to become the FBR chairman but at that time he had refused to accept the job. The announcement about Zaidi’s appointment was made by Prime Minister Imran himself during an interaction with senior journalists in Islamabad. Last week, the government decided to remove FBR chairman Jahanzeb Khan, but he is still coming to the office as the Establishment Division did not issue his transfer orders. faisalabad.pakistanjobs.pk/federal-board-of-revenue-fbr-jobs--126330.html
